Promises Kept, Moving Forward

In July of last year, you, the residents of Miami-Dade County, elected me as your Mayor. On day one, we hit the ground running and in the short months since then, we have implemented many important reforms. Although our accomplishments have given us a sense of cautious optimism, there is still much left to do.

Let’s move forward to create the conditions to enhance quality job creation. Small business owners in our community constantly remind me that government doesn’t create jobs. By taking concrete steps, we can help create the conditions for job growth and restore economic prosperity to our community.

Let’s move forward to change the County culture and adopt meaningful Charter reforms. Although Commissioner term limits have been placed on the November ballot, there a number of Charter reforms that must be placed on the ballot for our community’s consideration.

Let’s move forward to hold the Urban Development Boundary line. We need to protect our environment and put a lid on the urban sprawl that chokes our roadways, overwhelms our schools, strains our limited resources, threatens our natural treasures and ultimately impacts our quality of life. We must protect and defend the urban development boundary.

Thank you for entrusting me to lead this great community. I look forward to serving as your mayor for many years to come!
